Verified by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries
March 23, 2012 (Madison, WI) – The Global Federation of Animal
Sanctuaries (GFAS), the only globally recognized
organization providing standards for identifying legitimate animal sanctuaries,
awarded Verified status to Racer Placers, Inc., December 15, 2011.
that Racer Placers meets the criteria of a true equine sanctuary/rescue and is
providing humane and responsible care of the animals. To be awarded Verified
status, an organization must meet GFAS’s rigorous and peer-reviewed animal care
standards which are confirmed by a site visit and they must also adhere to a
demanding set of ethical and operational principles.

on Standardbred race horses, giving those who are no longer winning on the track
the opportunity to have a second career and a new life”, explained Jeannine
Alexander, Deputy Director-Equine of GFAS. “They have an excellent retraining
and rehoming program that allows them to match horses and families based on
their abilities and needs,” she continued.

rolling hills of southeastern Wisconsin, Racer Placers is an equine re-homing
program dedicated primarily to the Standardbred race horse. Racer Placers
provides these wonderful equines a place to relax, rest, and socialize before

become pleasure driving horses, some become trail horses, and several have
